Functional Art Statement

Noah Kriegsmann is a native Seattlite. He attended Garfield High School and graduated from the University of Washington, with a major in Comparative History of Ideas and a minor in Fine Arts. In addition, he has completed sculpture, painting and metalworking courses at Pratt Fine Art Center, Gage Academy of Art and The Evergreen State College.

His experience has been enriched by partnering with local craftsmen and sculptors, both in apprenticeships and joint projects. He is fascinated by working with materials, in textures, forms and structures. To approach building as a kind of sculpture opens up possibilities for the creative use of space and aesthetics.

A place or object suggests its own development, from shaping the solid forms in a room around the natural flow through it, to finding the beauty in a weathered piece of wood. Noah aims for a simple elegance in any project, one that presents itself as the perfect design choice in the collaboration with a client.

In our furniture and creation of spaces, we seek the beauty in natural processes – the design, sourcing, construction, and, of course, the materials themselves. Sustainable, local and repurposed components are used whenever possible.
