Guidelines on submitting artworks to the gallery for a spring or fall review:
WaterWorks Gallery is always looking for emerging and mid-career artists seeking representation from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
We ask that any artists looking to submit their work first review the artists currently represented to best understand the mission of the gallery.
For artist submissions, strict guidelines exist for gallery review, failure to follow gallery procedure greatly inhibits the review process:
- Portfolios should contain: A minimum of seven images of recent work ie good quality photographs accompanied by titles, dimensions, and medium.
- Artist biography listing previous/current exhibitions and representation, significant sales (and prices), education, et cetera.
- We accept high quality photos of artist’s work only, actual artwork will not be considered beyond scheduled appointments made specifically by the gallery director.
- Portfolios will only be accepted through the postal system, they cannot be hand-delivered.
- We will not review artwork recorded onto CD-ROM, floppy disk, or otherwise. High quality digital printouts are fine. Additionally, artist’s websites and/or online portfolios cannot replace actual submissions, though if you have a site the address may be included in your submission.
Portfolios must include a SASE stamped envelope for return. The gallery accepts no responsibility for inadequate postage.
Review typically requires at least a 1-month turnaround period, during which the gallery will contact the artist with any questions; submitting artists are strongly discouraged from calling.
After review, artists’ portfolios will either be returned to them via the postal system or kept for further consideration. In the latter case, artists will be notified by the gallery directly.
